María Magali Gasca

Born in Mexico City Maria Magali Gasca studied modern oboe with Roberto Kolb at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), obtaining her Bachelors degree in 1998. In 2000 she obtained the Meester in Musik Diploma at the Hogeschool Antwerpen, Belgium, where she studied with Joris van den Hauwe. Since then she has specialized in baroque and classical oboe with Alfredo Bernardini and Frank de Bruine in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht respectively, obtaining the Music-Postgraduate Certificate in 2002 and the Bachelor of Music in 2006. She complemented these studies with singing lessons from Guy de Mey and Howard Crook.

She has received scholarships from Mexican institutions such as the UNAM (in the programs "Early introduction to research and teaching" and "Support to distinguished students") and twice from Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (in the program "Support for studies abroad").

With the baroque oboe she has performed with different orchestras and ensembles in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Spain, Mexico and Finland. To mention only some: Il Concerto Barroco, Collegium Ad Mosam, Il Buoni Antichi, and playing oboe band music with King's Consort (Robert King), Ensemble Zefiro (Alfredo Bernardini), etc.

She has given several courses and lectures for different institutions such as the Mexican Embassy in The Netherlands, Escuela de Música Vida y Movimiento, Centro Morelense de las Artes, etc. She was baroque oboe teacher in the UCK (Utrecht's Center for the Arts) for the year 2006-2007.
