Raúl Moncada

Born in Mexico city (1975), Raul Eduardo Moncada Barreda studied harpsichord and clavichord with Bob van Asperen, Menno van Delft and Siebe Henstra in Amsterdam and Utrecht (The Netherlands) obtaining his Muziek 1e fase diploma in Amsterdam (2001) and his Voortgezette Kunstopleiding Muziek in Utrecht (2004).

He received twice a fellowship from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and he has also been awarded several grants from the Mexican government to continue his studies abroad as well as for giving lectures and concerts.

With his ensemble Rossi Piceno Baroque Ensemble he obtained the second prize in the international competitions of "Musica Antiqua" (Bruges, Belgium) in 2003 and the "Premio Bonporti" (Rovereto, Italy) in 2004.

As a continuo player as well as a soloist he has played in Holland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium Mexico and Spain in different festivals such as the Grachtenfestival (Amsterdam), Festival van Vlaanderen (Bruges), Encuentros de Música Antigua (Mexico city), and with orchestras and ensembles such as: Giovani della Montis Regalis, La Primavera, Il Teatro Musicale, Les Muffatti.

Regularly he is invited to give courses, lectures and master classes in Mexico. From 2000 till 2005 he worked as accompanist in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
